Treatment
Hope for Our Sisters funds fistula surgeries. After traveling for multiple days by foot, car or bus, women suffering from fistula arrive at our partner hospitals. Often they are alone, though sometimes they are accompanied by a family member. Through your generosity, HFOS pays for restorative surgeries as well as care for these precious women both before and after surgery. Each surgery you support provides a young woman with the opportunity to heal and pursue her life to the fullest; your generosity is a tangible reminder to each woman of her priceless value. HFOS also funds extended post-surgical rehabilitation and physiotherapy when needed to enable our sisters to regain their full function after their trauma.
In addition to funding fistula surgeries, we focus on sustainability by contributing to the training fees for two new doctors who will provide Maternal Health Care to women in Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. One of our doctors, Dr. Sam Fabiano, is featured in a hope story below.
